Bentley launches new luxury SUV and it won't come cheap

By Giulia Cambieri

If you have more than €150,000 to splash out on a sport utility vehicle, then you may want to take a look at Bentley’s brand new EXP 9 F.

Presented at the latest Geneva Motor Show, the SUV features a 12-cylinder engine, an 8-speed automatic transmission, as well as a 3D screen that provides information about the journey route. And to add to it, there is also a central touchscreen to regulate cabin temperature.

Obviously, all this doesn’t come without a price. Although Bentley, which is part of family-controlled Volkswagen Group, hasn’t revealed the cost of the new model, a spokeswoman for the company told CampdenFB that it will be “close to the top of the SUV market”. In other words, the car can cost more than €150,000.

But Bentley reckons this is a price worth paying. The EXP 9 F “feels equally at home at an opera gala performance, on the sand dunes and the overtaking lane of the [highway]”, the company said in a statement on 5 March.

“We know that many of our customers already own SUVs,” Bentley’s chairman and chief executive Wolfgang Duerheimer said during the motor show in Geneva.

“For many of them a dramatically styled, Bentley all-wheel drive SUV would be a natural choice both on and off-road,” he added.

Bentley, which was founded in 1919 by WO Bentley, was bought by VW in 1998 – the German carmaker is controlled by the Piech family.
