Online course for family businesses launched

By Rashmi Kumar

The Business Families Foundation has launched the first in a series of online courses, targeting family business members and professionals aiming to better understand the dynamics of running a family firm.

The three-part programme, which will give candidates the chance to interact with others through an online networking tool, is for both family and non-family executives working in family-run companies.

Part one will deal with the basics of being a family business, while parts two and three will focus on the structures and problems facing family-controlled groups around the world, said a statement.

While one version is for family members, a separate online programme has also been devised by the Montreal, Canada-based organisation for professionals, including lawyers and accountants, working with family businesses.

BFF is a not-for-profit organisation, formed to support and educate family-managed firms internationally, which account for around 75% of global GDP annually.
