JAB continued its shift from the moribund luxury market to coffee and food with its call in April for buyers interested in acquiring its 68% stake in Jimmy Choo.

“People [are] suggesting that markets are horribly expensive and that the global economy is going to slow down precipitously,” Kevin Gardiner, Rothschild Wealth Management’s global investment strategist, said.

“I’d keep an open mind because I’m not sure either of those things are true.”

Real estate and agricultural land remain the most popular investments for ultra-high net worth families, says new research by international family office Stonehage Fleming – although the family business remains their central asset.

Four Pillars of Capital for the Twenty First Century found that 78% of families would hold real estate and agricultural land and 67% said they would hold equities as a long-term strategy.
