Heineken buys 50% of Californian craft brewer

Dutch family brewer Heineken, owned by the eponymous family, has announced plans to purchase a 50% stake in Californian craft brewer Lagunitas.

According to a company statement, the deal will provide Heineken with a foothold in the booming craft beer market and Lagunitas with a boost to its global customer base. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Lotte Group ousts 92-year-old founder

The board of directors at South Korean-Japanese conglomerate Lotte Group voted this week to remove general chairman and founder Shin Kyuk-ho from his post, Japanese media reported.

The move is seen as part of a power struggle between the founder’s two sons, Dong-joo and Dong-bin, who own comparable stakes in the company, and are vying for control of the 90 trillion won ($77 billion) business.

The Ikea Foundation, connected to the eponymous family-controlled furniture empire, is to fund a documentary series aimed at drawing attention to discrimination and abuse against women.

The Ikea Foundation, connected to the eponymous family-controlled furniture empire, is to fund a documentary series aimed at drawing attention to discrimination and abuse against women.

The foundation will be funding A Path Appears, produced by the Half a Sky Movement – the second time it has donated to a documentary produced by the women’s rights organisation. It will donate €1.12 million to its development.
