Salaries for top executives at family offices jumped 10% in the past year but women are still unrepresented in C-suites, according to the new Global Family Office Report 2017.

Family offices recovered from a year of low investment returns, which averaged 0.3% in 2015, to climb to 7% in 2016, the report by Campden Wealth, in partnership with UBS, said.

Top-tier salaries in family offices have increased since 2016 with most chief executives now paid more than $300,000 a year, a study by Agreus reveals.

Chief executives and investment related roles also generated the biggest bonuses of between 31% and 50%, with the high-end receiving more than 50%. However, the percentage of salary paid as bonuses was similar to the findings last year by the family office resourcing and recruitment consultancy.

The head of strategic planning at technology-company Infosys, Ganapathy Subramanian, will reportedly step down after a nearly a decade and take on a managerial role at the chief executive’s family office.

According to an article from Business Standard, Subramanian will join Infosys’ cofounder S D Shibulal – set to retire in August – at his family office Innovations Investment Management India in Bangalore in the near future.

You’ve got to give it to the Catholic Church, they do things in style.

The process in most organisations, when they are looking for a new leader, is to get a bunch of people to sit hunched in soulless offices and thrash it out over Formica tables and pots of over-brewed coffee. The result is announced by a press release. New popes, however, are elected by a bunch of men fluttering down baroque corridors in colourful gowns, talking in Latin, fidgeting with prayer beads and channelling the Almighty. 

They let the world know what they’ve decided via an eccentric system of smoke-signals. Still, it seems to work.
