The University of Cincinnati has officially launched a tertiary-level family business certificate – only the second of its kind in the US.
The programme, which is open to non-students, covers management, finance and legal aspects specific to family-owned firms, and also includes an entrepreneurship elective.
The evening lectures, designed to fit in with family business employees’ working schedules, will be run through the university’s Carl H. Lindner College of Business and The Goering Center for Family & Private Business.
In a press release, programme director Sid Barton said the course sought to accommodate family members of family firms, both working and non-working, as well as non-family employees and managers.
Rutgers University in New York also runs a family business certificate.
