One of Europe’s top business schools is launching a centre “set up by business families for business families”.
Dr Vanessa Strike, who will lead the new Erasmus Centre for Family Business, told CampdenFB the centre aims to “provide business families with a safe space to collaborate, network, research and learn, creating a common language where the needs of family business can be known, understood and addressed”.
The centre will officially be launched on 30 November and is part of the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University. RSM is among Europe’s top 10 business schools, according to the Financial Times.
Fifth-gen Alice Huisman, managing director of yacht-maker Royal Huisman, and Sebastiaan Sanders from Danish furniture-producer Leolux are among the guest speakers lined up for the event.
As well as offering networking opportunities to business families, the centre will focus on research and teaching that addresses the “challenges involved in responsible ownership” and the “viability of family businesses around the world”, said Strike.
An academic symposium will also be held on 30 November, where Professor Danny Miller, research chair in family enterprise and strategy at the Alberta School of Business at the University of Alberta, will speak.
