New books for family businesses launched

Career Press has launched a book aimed directly at family-owned businesses. Family Inc: How to Manage Parents, Siblings, Spouses, Children and In-Laws in the Family Business details the different personalities and conflicts in a family business, giving expert advice to help families overcome these issues in and around the business.

The authors, Larry Colin and his wife Laura, have both worked in a family business. Larry is a 37-year veteran of a 92-year-old family business. His grandfather's firm started out as a one-man operation and now has sales approaching $200 million. Laura worked as an investment banker in New York after obtaining a Kellogg MBA. She later joined her husband in the business.

Family-owned J Wiley & Sons has also published a book for business families. Strategy for the Wealthy Family, by Mark Haynes Daniell, advises families on how to become wealthy and ensure their wealth passes from generation to generation. Daniell is a former director of Bain & Co, a leading strategy consultant firm where he worked for more than 20 years with some of the world's wealthiest families and their businesses. He also founded The Cuscaden Group, a privately owned investment and advisory business.
