Jim Justice, head of the Justice Family Group LLC, announced yesterday that the family has purchased The Resort at Glade Springs, its second luxury resort in West Virginia.
Glade Springs, which is set in 4,100 acres of land and has three 18-hole golf courses, is just 39 miles from the world renowned Greenbrier Resort, which the family purchased in May 2009. (Click here to read our coverage of the story)
"The resort at Glade Springs is an ideal addition to the amenities and services offered to our clientele at the Greenbrier," said Jim Justice, head of the Justice Family Group. "With this acquisition, Glade Springs will become an outpost to Greenbrier and it allows the Greenbrier to be so much closer to the wonderful West Virginia outdoor adventures."
Justice did not reveal how much the family agreed to pay for its 92.5% stake in the resort; however, he did say the current owners, EMCO Hospitality, would continue to manage Glade Springs.
Jim Justice, a keen golfer, joined the family business in 1976 and in early 2009 sold the family's coal and mining business to Mechel OAO, one of Russia's leading mining and metal companies, for $436 million.
