Francois Heriard Dubreuil has been named the new chairman of French drinks business Remy Cointreau, replacing his sister Dominique Heriard Dubreuil.
It follows Dominique’s announcement in July that she wanted to step down at the end of 2012. She will remain a member of the company’s board.
Francois has held a number of prominent positions in the family business, best known for Remy Martin cognac, Cointreau liqueur and Mount Gay Rum. He was chairman of the Remy Martin Group before the company was merged with Cointreau in the early 1990s and was also chief executive of the Remy Cointreau Group for 10 years.
In a statement, he said: "I would like to thank the board for the trust it has placed in me, which demonstrates and reaffirms the family's involvement in the continued implementation of the group's development strategy.”
The Heriard Dubreuil siblings have always worked closely with each other – Dominique previously told CampdenFB that the company’s success was down to the combined effort of family members. “We are a team,” she said.
