Estee Lauder Company promotes founder's granddaughter

Jane Lauder, granddaughter of cosmetics queen Estee Lauder (pictured), has been named senior vice president, general manager of Origins - a wellness brand that is part of the Estee Lauder Company. Jane has moved from her role as senior vice president, global marketing for Clinique - a position she has held since July 2006.

"I am thrilled to be joining the Origins team," said Jane. "This is a brand I've admired since its creation in 1990 when it debuted as the first prestige beauty brand to combine the best of science and nature. Origins has a strong history of innovation and I look forward to working closely with its terrific team to build and grow this important brand globally."

Jane joined the Estee Lauder Company in 1996. She was instrumental in a number of Clinique's recent successes, including the launches of Acne Solutions and Almost Powder Makeup, which used innovative multi-media marketing and distribution approaches.

"Jane is an extremely innovative marketer and talented business leader," William P Lauder, CEO of the Estee Lauder Company and Jane's cousin, said. "Her strong management skills, coupled with her deep understanding of the dynamic global retail environment, will be hugely valuable as she leads and grows the Origins brand around the world."

In December 2007 the company announced that a  non-family member, Fabrizio Freda, was to be groomed as successor to William, taking over the role of president and COO in March this year.
