Jordanian family business association created
An organisation aimed at helping family businesses address the challenges they face and promote economic growth in Jordan has been founded.
The Jordanian Association of Family Businesses was created on 8 January, at a workshop on corporate governance for family businesses organised by Assam-based Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Graduate School of Business and German think-tank Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung, with the support of Jordan's industry and trade minister, Sami Gammoh.
During the workshop, Mustafa Nasreddin, senior executive director at professional service firms Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization, stressed the importance of family businesses to the Jordanian economy, but said they face a number of issues, including stringent legal requirements, that affect their operations.
The newly-formed organisation will be headed by Loay Abu-Ghazaleh, deputy chairman of Talal Abu-Ghazaleh Organization.
He will be assisted by a committee, which will hold its first meeting in the next few weeks. Fuad Kreishan, researcher at Al-Hussein Bin Talal University, and Ali Al Shraideh, senior financial analyst at Jordan Securities Commission, are among those who will sit on the committee.
