Family businesses wanted for new BBC programme

By Attracta Mooney

Alex Polizzi, the granddaughter of hotelier Lord Forte, is set to present a new BBC TV programme aimed at boosting the fortunes of British family businesses.

Best known for her critical eye and ability to transform venues on Channel 5’s The Hotel Inspector, Polizzi will draw on her experience of working in her family’s business to provide advice to struggling companies.

Her grandfather founded the Forte Group, one of Britain’s most famous family firms, which was later the subject of a hostile takeover bid by Granada. Her uncle went on to establish the Rocco Forte Hotels – a collection of luxury properties, while Polizzi manages her mother’s Hotel Endsleigh in Milton Abbot.

Twofour Broadcast is looking for family-run businesses, dealing with issues from warring couples to uninterested next-gens, to take part in the programme, provisionally called Alex Polizzi: Business in the Blood.

More information is available from 0207 438 1812 or familybusinesses@twofour.co.uk.
