In California, the Hummingbird Nest ranch, which sells for $75 million in rural Simi Valley outside Los Angles, has laid dormant on the market for over a year. The 123-acre ranch comes with in-demand comfort features such as a helipad, solar panel field, water recycling, six guest houses, 10 staff houses, and a 17,000-square foot home. But real estate agents say the ranch won't sell anytime soon.

LVMH, the luxury group owned by Bernard Arnault and family, has acquired Hublot group, the Geneva-based luxury watchmakers.

LVMH, the luxury group owned by Bernard Arnault and family, has acquired Hublot group, the Geneva-based luxury watchmakers. Hublot was founded by Carlo Crocco in 1980, and LVMH will acquire it from both Crocco and a company controlled by Jean-Claude Biver, which has managed Hublot since 2004.

"I am happy that Hublot, an innovative brand since its creation, is joining the LVMH group, the world leader in luxury goods, whose creative passion is without any doubt a value that I have always shared," said Crocco.

An Australian family firm is selling part of its horse training and breeding business to Middle Eastern royalty. Through his global thoroughbred breeding operation Darley, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the ruler of Dubai, has purchased the Bloodstock operation of Inghams Enterprises for an undisclosed sum. The sale includes all the Bloodstock training stables in southern Australia.

Ford Motors has sold two of its luxury car brands to a fellow family-owned company.

Ford Motors has sold two of its luxury car brands to a fellow family-owned company. Tata Motors, part of the Indian-based Tata Group, has bought Land Rover and Jaguar for $2.3 billion.

Ford announced last summer that the brands were being put up for sale and there has been much speculation as to who would be the highest bidder. In January this year Ford confirmed that it had entered into discussions with Tata over a possible sale.

A family-owned musical instrument firm is celebrating its 125th anniversary. The US-based Gretsch Company is marking the celebration by introducing limited edition guitars and drums.

"It's quite exciting to reach this remarkable milestone," said president Fred W Gretsch (pictured). "We owe our many years of success to four generations of Gretsch owners and the dedicated men and women on their team who were – and are – passionate about great music and high-quality instruments."
