The Gothic spires of Reims’ Notre-Dame Cathedral are clearly visible only a mile from the office of Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger, the president of the eponymously-named champagne house and figurehead for what he calls “the champagne mission”.

TFE has bought Tres Agaves, a company founded in 2008 to help people “simply make the most delicious margaritas on the planet”, according to the group’s website.

Controlled by the founding family, the group, which imports fine wines produced by families from around the world, is now called Deutsch Family Wine & Spirits, said a statement on 7 May.

Fifth-generation Jonathan Neame told CampdenFB: “At a time of recession, we have been able to steer the business well due to our long-term thinking on how to invest in alignment with market trends.”

Tracing its history back to 1863, Camus is releasing eight vintages, including a number dating back to the early 1970s. Expect to pay as much as a €1,000 for some of the rarer vintages.

Family-owned Dutch brewer Heineken has reported strong results for the first half of 2011, with family ownership of the company boosting the world’s third-largest brewer.

The company’s revenues rose to €8.35 billion for the first six months of the year, up from around €7.5 billion for the same period in 2010.

Family-owned brewing company Heineken announced on 12 January that it has acquired controlling interests in five breweries in Nigeria as it continues its expansion in emerging markets.

Family-owned brewing company Heineken announced on 12 January that it has acquired controlling interests in five breweries in Nigeria as it continues its expansion in emerging markets.

The breweries acquired include two holding companies of the Nigerian-based Sona Group, giving Heineken access to Sona, IBBI, Benue, Life and Champion breweries. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Heineken also said that it would consider the possibility of consolidating the acquired breweries into its existing business in Nigeria, but gave no timetable.
