Peroni and Grolsch sold to smooth AB Inbev and SABMiller deal

Family-controlled brewer AB InBev, which has been shedding assets to win regulatory approval for a takeover of SABMiller, has agreed to a €2.55 billion ($2. 87 billion) deal to sell European lager brands Peroni and Grolsch.

Japanese brewer Asahi will buy the lager brands in the UK and Europe, as well as London’s Meantime brewery, which is being put up for sale to help ease regulatory concerns over its £71 billion ($102 billion) takeover of SABMiller.

Primark, the British-based discount clothing chain, is offering compensation and emergency aid after a supplier’s factory in Bangladesh collapsed, claiming more than 400 lives.

The Rana Plaza, on the outskirts of the capital Dhaka, collapsed last week. The building's owner, Mohammed Sohel Rana, has been arrested amid allegations of negligence and illegal construction.

Boasting two floors, a store in Dubai was found to be selling clothes and accessories identical to those sold by Primark, part of family-controlled Associated British Foods. The store even pretended to be part of the Weston family’s chain.
