A co-founder of Polish family business Solaris has announced she is stepping down as chief executive of the bus manufacturer, but insists the company will remain in full family ownership.

Solange Olszewska will step down in April, the company announced today, and will be replaced by Dr Andreas Strecker, the former president and chief executive of Daimler Buses North America.

For more than 20 years, US-based investment adviser Trent Capital Management has invested its clients’ money in smart technology companies. Mainly in mobile phone companies. As of now, the company has a new investment policy: 3D printing.

“It’s the first thing we’ve seen come along that is going to be as universally disruptive as the cellular telephone industry,” says Trent Capital Management partner Jim Folds, who is advising the company’s family office clients among others that the technology’s time is about to come.

Peter Wege, a significant donor to environmental causes and the former second-gen vice chairman of furniture family business Steelcase, has died in Michigan, US, aged 94.

Founded in 1912 by Wege’s father, Peter Martin Wege, Steelcase is the world’s largest office furniture manufacturer, reporting revenues of $2.9 billion last year.

Lorenzo Zambrano, the Mexican businessman who turned his family’s cement manufacturer into a multinational company, has died suddenly at the age of 70 in Spain.

According to local media, the fourth-generation chairman and chief executive of Cemex was found by members of staff at his Madrid hotel, after he failed to turn up for a business meeting.

He was not known to be in poor health.
