Lego repurchase of Legoland Parks continues trend of de-listing
Lego’s parent company has bought back the entertainments company it sold to Merlin Entertainment in 2005 for £4.8bn with a consortium of private equity and institutional investors.

Lego’s parent company, Kirkbi, which is controlled by the third-generation of the Kirk Kristiansen family, already owned a 30% stake in Legoland Parks after selling 70% of the business for about £250 million in July 2005 to repay mounting debts.

The future of telecommunications operator Reliance Communications (RCom), owned by billionaire tycoon Anil Ambani (pictured), has been thrown into confusion after Indian authorities refused to approve a spectrum sale deal to Reliance Jio (Jio), the company owned by Anil’s brother Mukesh Ambani.

India’s Department of Telecommunications (DoT) told RCom it could not sell its spectrum to rival Jio as the proposed deal did not conform to its guidelines.

Flat global sales and corporate streamlining are behind an 8% drop in revenue for 2017, the Danish family owned Lego Group announced today.

Revenue for the full year fell after more than a decade of strong growth to DKK 35 billion ($5.8 billion) from DKK 37.9 billion ($6.3 billion) in 2016. The decline came despite a Lego movie and Star Wars merchandise tie-ins and the royal opening of the Lego House family attraction last year.

VW and Suzuki settle four-year legal dispute

An international court has ordered German carmaker Volkswagen to sell its 19.9% stake in Japan’s Suzuki Motor, bringing to a close a four-year dispute between the companies.

The two automakers had accused each other of breaching their 2009 partnership agreement, which was intended to provide Volkswagen with greater access to India and Suzuki with new technology.
