Hero MotoCorp posts “best ever” quarterly sales

Indian motorcycle manufacturer Hero MotoCorp, owned by the Munjal family, reported a 28% increase in net profit this week in what has been called its best-ever quarterly sales.

Pawan Munjal, chairman, managing director and chief executive of Hero MotoCorp, said the record-breaking sales were a reiteration of the “overwhelming” customer preference for the company's products.

Classic cars have topped a new passion investment index released this week, while when it comes to fine art, traditional Chinese works have provided the most lucrative returns.

According to The Coutts Index: Objects of Desire classic cars saw a 257% return on investment over a seven-and-a-half year period, starting in 2005, well ahead of the next most profitable passion investment, classic watches, which saw returns of 176%.

Bernard Arnault’s LVMH has announced half year revenues of €13.7 billion, with organic revenue growth up 8% compared to the same period last year.

The group said it continues to experience strong momentum in Asia and the US, and continued to grow in Europe despite economic uncertainty.

Kering, Francois-Henri Pinault's luxury goods group, has announced that its Redcats subsidiary has completed the sale of two of its Scandinavian brands – internet shopping brand Ellos and home textiles company Jotex – to private equity company Nordic Capital Fund VII.

In Paris, luxury and lifestyle group Kering said revenues rose €2.4 billion, up 3.1% on a comparable basis to the first quarter of 2012.

Turnover from its sport and lifestyle division fell 2.5%, mainly due to slow sales at Puma, but revenues at Kering's luxury division grew 6.4%, with growth in all geographic regions.
