US eco-friendly cleaning business Seventh Generation, owned by the Hollender family, has been snapped up by Dutch rival Unilever for an undisclosed sum.

The Vermont-based company, which produces sustainable, chlorine-free cleaning and toiletry products, was acquired as part of a drive by Unilever as it looks to increase its portfolio of natural products.

French family-controlled luxury giant LVMH will sell its Donna Karan brand to American family business G-III Apparel Group in a $650 million deal by the start of 2017.

LVMH, which owns flagship fashion label Louis Vuitton, champagne house Moët & Chandon and cognac label Hennessy, bought Donna Karan in 2002 for about $243 million and was its first venture into the ready-to-wear market.

Multi family office Fleming Family & Partners has acquired wealth management firm Gebhard, Corrodi and Partners, in a move by the London-based investment office to expand its Swiss business. 

In a statement on 4 July, FF&P said that it has bought Zurich-based GCP, which has assets under management of around £750 million (€831 million). The cost of the acquisition wasn’t disclosed - GCP’s seven employees, including directors Urs Gebhard and Christoph Corrodi, will join Fleming’s office in Zurich.

Reports in the financial press say that the Shine Group, founded by Elisabeth Murdoch, had hired JP Morgan Chase to advise on strategy, including being acquired. Murdoch owns 53% of the company's shares, with Sony holding 20% and British Sky Broadcasting holding 13% stake.

Family-owned brewing company Heineken announced on 12 January that it has acquired controlling interests in five breweries in Nigeria as it continues its expansion in emerging markets.

The breweries acquired include two holding companies of the Nigerian-based Sona Group, giving Heineken access to Sona, IBBI, Benue, Life and Champion breweries. The financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Heineken also said that it would consider the possibility of consolidating the acquired breweries into its existing business in Nigeria, but gave no timetable.
