Campden Wealth, in association with the Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank, is launching the first Middle East* Philanthropy Awards, which will honour the individuals, foundations and initiatives that have made outstanding contributions in their respective fields.
The awards will be held on December 9th in a special gala dinner in Abu Dhabi and will include four categories – Philanthropist of the Year; Young Philanthropist of the Year; Foundation of the Year; and Life-Time Achievement Award.
The Arab region of the Middle East is now an acknowledged centre of global philanthropic efforts. Both social and cultural philanthropy is growing rapidly in the region, and individuals and foundations are making a real difference to people’s lives in the Middle East and beyond, but until now they haven’t been acknowledged as such.
“These awards represent a rare opportunity to acknowledge the greatest givers, foundations and initiatives that are really making a difference in the Middle East, and even beyond,” said David Bain, editorial director of Campden Wealth. “There are many individuals and initiatives in the region, but often they go unnoticed by a wider audience. The awards are designed to give them the acknowledgement they deserve.”
Tirad Mahmoud, chief executive of Abu Dhabi Islamic Bank said: “At Adib we are pleased to join hands with Campden to launch the first Middle East Philanthropy Award.
"Such an association between a top-tier Islamic financial Institution and Campden gives us a chance to recognize efforts of individuals and institutions who have played a major role in changing people's lives in the Middle East.
"We are inspired by our Shari'a principals in everything that we do in ADIB, our Prophet said 'Those who don't thank people, don't thank God', we have acted upon this and thus partnered with one of the top publishing companies to develop the region's first award of its kind that acknowledges ambassadors of this noble cause."
