The royal baby boy, born to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge on Monday, is to become the latest member of the British royal family to own a Merrythought teddy bear.
In honour of his birth, the family firm, now in its fourth generation, produced 200 limited edition commemorative bears and has gifted the first in the series to the latest addition to the royal family.
Each bear is made from white mohair and pure silk, with hand-sewn nose and baby blue bib. The commemorative bear is now sold out; however, a similar special edition “celebration bear” is still being sold.
Other royals who have previously been presented with a Merrythought bear include the Queen, the Prince of Wales and Zara Phillips.
Merrythought, still run and owned by the Holmes family, was founded in 1930 and manufacturers its toys from a Victorian-era factory in Shropshire, UK.
