Family-owned Swiss retail group Maus Frères has, through its subsidiary Procastor, increased its ownership in Swedish clothing company Gant (pictured). The group has acquired 480,000 additional shares, representing 2.9% of the stock for €33 per share. In total, Maus Frères now owns 29.9% of the shares and votes in Gant.
For several years Maus Frères, which is the largest privately held retail group in Switzerland, has successfully pursued a strategy of increasing its portfolio of international brands and developing its presence in the high-end and affordable luxury segments.
Maus Frères hopes the Gant brand will benefit from significant financial support to further strengthen its global marketing and to speed up Gant's geographical expansion, mainly in the US and Japan.
