Campden makes major acquisition of leading US investor education group

Campden Media, the leading global events, research and specialist media company serving the ultra-affluent family wealth community, announced 1 February that it has acquired the New York-based Institute for Private Investors.

Founded in 1991, IPI has established itself as the pre-eminent provider of educational and networking resources for ultra-high net worth investors in the US. It was also at the forefront of developing an online networking platform for its members.

The acquisition will allow Campden to increase its global network and offer its community access to a wider variety of online and in-person networking opportunities.

"We are thrilled to complete the acquisition of IPI, one of the oldest and most respected organisations in the business and the first to have an active online community. Campden's business and financial family community and IPI members will have enhanced opportunities to network, share and exchange information and intelligence on a global basis," said John Pettifor, Campden CEO.

"Our goal is to anticipate the needs of family businesses and ultra high-net-worth individuals around the world."

IPI will retain its name, but operate as a separate brand under the Campden umbrella of companies. IPI's founder and CEO Charlotte Beyer will remain in her position. President Kristi Kuechler has resigned from the company and her position will not be filled. Mindy Rosenthal, Campden managing director for North America, will additionally assume Kuechler's responsibilities at IPI.

"As IPI members become more global with cross-border interests, the affiliation with Campden takes us to the next level. I am very excited to implement this next phase of our growth for the benefit of the IPI community," Beyer said.

She added: "Together, IPI and Campden will continue to offer a safe harbour dedicated to education and community. Now IPI members will have the advantage of additional services and an international platform, with future opportunities for access to Campden's global community through conferences, magazines, e-news service and research."

"I am excited to work with Charlotte, who has been a great influence on my career.  I have substantial admiration for the way IPI respects and works with financial families," Rosenthal said.  "We look forward to combining forces to provide an even greater level of service to the families in our communities."
